I started my fitness journey after reading about Matthew McConaughey’s workout which unlisted the power of push ups, I used these to form the foundation of my workout, transforming myself, adding muscle and dropping fat.
Matthew McConaughey focuses solely on push ups and running, just these two moves have got him movie star ripped with broad shoulders, a thick chest and well defined six pack abdominals since his early romcom days!

200 push ups a day. Simple and effective.
“I’ll drop and give myself 20 pushups at intervals throughout the day. 9 a.m., bang out 20. Sitting in a boring meeting at 10:30. Bang out 20. I do that 10 times throughout the day, I’ve done 200″.
“It’s crazy, man. Sometimes I’ll fast and all of a sudden I’m all cut up, and all I really do is 200 push-ups a day and I go run. I don’t even pick up weights. I’m very lucky. So, yeah, what I’m lookin’ at right now, it’s a good-lookin’ belly”.

“I’ll tell you this right now, I love food. I’m passionate about food. I weigh 180 right now. If I want to, by Friday I could weigh 190 and if I want to by Friday I can weigh 170”.
According to Matthew McConaughey’s trainer Gunnar Peterson, for Magic Mike he had a high protein, relatively low carbohydrate diet plan to shred down for the movie.
“We increased the lean protein sources and decreased the amount of carbs he was eating in the morning. Matthew was already reducing his carb intake as the day progressed, essentially cutting off starchy carbs after mid-day; and he was already eating a great lunch and dinner meal”.
“As far as his basic meal plan goes, he was already pretty much on-point. Three days prior to shooting particularly clothes-less scenes, I had Matthew reduce his water and sodium intake. I also added a low-glycemic lean mass gainer into his breakfast for a bit of extra carbs so he wouldn’t get too flat”.
