The Matthew McConaughey body transformation was one of the main reasons I put together the Hollywood Movie Star Program and the results speak for themselves!

200 push ups a day. Simple and effective.

“I’ll drop and give myself 20 pushups at intervals throughout the day. 9 a.m., bang out 20. Sitting in a boring meeting at 10:30. Bang out 20. I do that 10 times throughout the day, I’ve done 200″.

“It’s crazy, man. Sometimes I’ll fast and all of a sudden I’m all cut up, and all I really do is 200 push-ups a day and I go run. I don’t even pick up weights. I’m very lucky. So, yeah, what I’m lookin’ at right now, it’s a good-lookin’ belly”.

Matthew McConaughey Diet

“I’ll tell you this right now, I love food. I’m passionate about food. I weigh 180 right now. If I want to, by Friday I could weigh 190 and if I want to by Friday I can weigh 170”.

According to Matthew McConaughey’s trainer Gunnar Peterson, for Magic Mike he had a high protein, relatively low carbohydrate diet plan to shred down for the movie.

“We increased the lean protein sources and decreased the amount of carbs he was eating in the morning. Matthew was already reducing his carb intake as the day progressed, essentially cutting off starchy carbs after mid-day; and he was already eating a great lunch and dinner meal”.

As far as his basic meal plan goes, he was already pretty much on-point. Three days prior to shooting particularly clothes-less scenes, I had Matthew reduce his water and sodium intake. I also added a low-glycemic lean mass gainer into his breakfast for a bit of extra carbs so he wouldn’t get too flat”.

Matthew McConaughey much like many other actors has been known to stick to the classic bodybuilding diet when getting ripped for a role such as ‘Magic Mike‘ or the many romcoms he stared in!

That classic bodybuilding diet includes chicken, broccoli and brown rice. But, you don’t have to just eat that, check out the variations I have put below.

  • Chicken and broccoli (classic)
  • Fish with asparagus
  • Salmon with greens

  • Turkey with courgettes/zucchini

If bulking or low body fat, direct carbs such as brown or white rice, sweet potatoes can be added. Again if bulking or body fat is low then additional fat sources can be added for hormonal health such as coconut oil or fattier cuts of meat and fish. Try fat sources such as coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, eggs, fattier cuts of meat and higher fat yogurts.

  1. So, is it just 200 regular push-ups per day? Or is it a mixture of push-up variations to do the 200 pushups per day?

    1. I’d love to believe that 200 pushups done throughout the day with some interspersed running is good enough to get you ripped (with a sensible diet off course).
      Anyone made a body transformation with this Type of workout alone?
