Chin Ups will be at the core of your Charlie Hunnam Pacific Rim workout so make sure you’ve either got a door pull up bar to get in the daily volume or a pull up and dip station.

Workout A

  • Chin Ups (20 x 10 reps)
  • DB Bicep Curls (10 x 10 reps)

Workout B

  • Dips (20 x 10 reps)
  • Diamond Push Ups (8 x 25 reps)

However, he’s got to be a little bit disappointed. Not because of the reviews, nor the box office returns (100M loss!) but the fact that after using progressive resistance and high volume to get up to “1,000 push ups a day” director Guy Ritchie went and put 3 ‘muscle shots’ of him in the movie! THREE! For that, Ritchie, drop and give us 10!

Charlie Hunnam is no stranger to working out, several fitness cover mag shoots indicate he’s a calisthenics fan! He’s been in shape since his early Sons Of Anarchy days through to ‘Pacific Rim’ and now ‘King Arthur’. So, can you do Pull Ups and Dips everyday and get results? Well, an all bodyweight only workout is exactly what Charlie Hunnam did and added 25-30 lbs of muscle in just 2 months!

Pull Ups and Dips Only

Not only did Charlie Hunnam do Pull Ups and Dips only but he also did just Pull Ups and Dips everyday, and the volume was high! Charlie Hunnam describes his workouts as ‘the oldskool stuff’.

“I did an enormous amount of pull-ups…Pull-ups were like the staple, pull-ups and dips” – Charlie Hunnam on his King Arthur workout.

To get in shape like a KING you’re going to need to be doing a whole bunch of:

  • Pull Ups/Chin Ups
  • Dips
  • Push Ups
  • Squats

All unweighted so you’re going to need to increase the reps, sets and volume and/or decrease your rest over time to keep making KING SIZE gains.

During many interviews Charlie Hunnam has spoken in much detail about his bodyweight workout for King Arthur, the official workout with sets and reps is below – it’s a lot! He said his workout was ‘Just doing exclusively bodyweight’.

  • Pull Ups (100)
  • Dips (100-300)
  • Push Ups (1,000)
  • Squats (1,000)
  • Core Strength and Ab Work
  • Boxing, Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai

Charlie Hunnam Workout Routine

I recommend alternating Workout A and Workout B and having as much rest in-between each workout as you need. Charlie Hunnam did it all everyday though! That’s a workout fit for a King!

WORKOUT A: PULL DAY (Back, Lats, Biceps)

  • Chin Ups (5 x 10 reps)
  • Pull Ups (5 x 10 reps)
  • Resistance Band Bicep Curls (10 x 20 reps)

WORKOUT B: PUSH DAY (Chest, Shoulders, Triceps)

To get into shape for King Arthur, Charlie Hunnam didn’t just go crazy on the calisthenics all bodyweight workout, he put a lot of time into eating too!

  • Eggs (3 yolk, 5 whites)
  • Avocado (x 2)
  • Turkey Bacon
  • Oatmeal
  • Rice
  • Vegetables
  • Granola with Almond Milk
  • Fruit
  • Fish
  • Chicken
  • Steak (twice a week)

Charlie Hunnam said of his diet:

“I try to avoid anything fucked with by man too much”.
